Warner and EMI fail to merge (again)

According to a story in Forbes, Warner Music has rejected a $4.2 billion cash-and-stock offer from larger rival EMI. This signifies yet another failed attempt to merge the two music industry giants, a story running over six years long now.

This latest round of failed consolidation has been in the works for about a year, since weak market performance in both camps led the companies to consider teaming up to avoid utter destruction by Sony BMG and Universal.
