Long Messaging Service

The Economic Times of India reports that a company called Micro Technologies, Ltd. has developed something called “Micro LMS”, or long messaging service, which enables users to send SMS messages as large as 800 kilobytes (normally SMS are limited to 160 kilobytes).

How this product differentiates itself from concatenated SMS (a process of segmenting multiple 160k messages and reassembling them on the receiver’s phone, well known in the mobile messaging industry) remains unclear. I’m doubtful that it’s anything but that, but with scant press on this announcement, and no further details to be found (even on the company’s own site), what else can we assume?
